Imagine a train station nestled within our community—a bustling hub that breathes life into the region. The reopening of a train station in Wantage and Grove would not only connect our town to the wider world but also provide our residents with newfound mobility and convenience. Commuters would enjoy shorter travel times and an alternative to congested roads, reducing stress and improving their overall quality of life. Furthermore, a train station would enhance accessibility for those with limited mobility, making our community more inclusive and welcoming to all.

But the benefits extend far beyond mere convenience. A train station in Wantage and Grove would stimulate economic growth by attracting businesses, fostering employment opportunities, and boosting local trade. It would become a catalyst for investment and development, as entrepreneurs and investors recognise the region's potential and the ease of access it offers. Moreover, a train station would encourage tourism, allowing visitors to explore our beautiful surroundings and support our local businesses, ultimately benefiting the entire community.

Wantage Grove Station Supporters Group is campaigning for the reopening of the rail station which sadly closed in 1964 due to the Dr Richard Beeching cuts. Historically, Wantage station served the community for 118 years from 1846 to 1964 and there was once was a goods depot too, but this also closed a year later in 1965.
The aim is to have passenger services reinstated at a new Wantage & Grove Parkway railway station and Railfreight services too. |
